Trend alert: the
green sofa is the latest thing
millennials want. It’s everywhere on social media – especially in living rooms that combine the green sofa with an expressive
urban jungle look . Jewel tones, like
emerald , are preferred when it comes to combining with a more luxurious fabric, such as
velvet . Despite its recent rise, colorful upholstery is a
combination that has spanned decades . In the 1970s, for example, it was common to see velvet sofas in shades of avocado, carrot and mustard – all added to, of course, an explosion of colors and prints. In the return to the hottest
decoration trends, these vintage sofas have been completely
revitalized and adapted to the current times , with the green upholstery as an exponent. Proof of this is the sofa from
Casa Up , designed by Michelle Wilkinson, Thiago Morsh and Cadé Marino from UP3 Architecture for
CASACOR Rio 2021 . The contemporary construction gains a spacious
forest green sofa from which you can contemplate the gardens or glimpse the extension of the integrated residence. Below, check out more projects with
green sofas and armchairs in the decor and get inspired!
Featured sofa
It is undeniable that the green sofa alone makes an impact, but how about taking it to the next level? In this project by Bruno Carvalho and Camila Avelar, partners at BC Arquitetos, the
emerald sofa is centralized in the space , becoming a focal point of convergence. – that is,
the point in the room that first attracts the eye . At
Refúgio Urbano , the decor was kept in neutral tones, such as beige and black. Timeless materials such as wood contribute to the integration of the
space surrounded by greenery . The landscaping project is by Daniel Nunes.

Have you ever imagined arriving home and coming across so many important works of art? This is the experience that the
Collector's Living Room , designed by Naomi Abe, promotes. In the
space surrounded by art , the green sofa finds its way to shine – and it is this sofa that
guides the palette. of decoration colors.

In the same space, green also defines the
anteroom , which, with
the air of a museum or art gallery , invites visitors to sit and enjoy. The minimalist cube has
green hydraulic tiles throughout its entire length – from the floor to the ceiling – and receives also
its own green sofa , this time more compact and conceptual.

"Riad" is a type of Moroccan building whose main feature is the
courtyard with an internal garden – a way of encouraging peaceful coexistence integrated with nature, which
redefines the boundaries between inside and outside the home . Inspired by Morocco, Roberto Migotto created
Le Riad Bontempo – a 600 m² space that aims to be a kind of oasis in the middle of the city, full of nature, big names in design and important references to Moroccan architecture.
The contemporary furniture mixes prints and textures, especially the green velvet upholstery, which creates a
contrast to the predominant colors , which range from desert tones, such as burnt yellow, black and light wood, to leaf green in the details.
The project also includes a
monochromatic area formed by a
set of armchairs and a wall covered in a panel with a green reflection. On the ceiling, the
geometric cutouts in the wood work to unify the spaces, as well as bringing more texture to the composition.
Green and wood sofa
Wood is probably most people's favorite floor covering – after all, what doesn't look good with wood? This is no different. We've already seen that green sofas gain even more popularity when combined with the urban jungle, but how about
bringing the nature into the home in a different way and, instead of investing in plants, opt for the
texture of wood ? This was Miguel Gustavo's choice for his
Casa de Campo , a 120 m² loft that
brings the warmth of wood to the kitchen , where it appears in the cabinets, shelves and dining counter. The warm touch of the material runs through the entire
floor and highlights the green of the sofa even more. The living area also features the iconic Mole
armchair by Sergio Rodrigues.
In the
Renault Loft , wood appears on a
slatted wall whose panels extend to the second floor of the house. In the box-shaped living room, glass and steel give the space a lightness that blends in with the exterior. Between blue and red In contemporary furniture,
green harmonizes with a more discreet shade – a good option for those who want to mix colors without making them compete with each other. The project is by Alexandre Gedeon and Hugo Schwartz of Intwon Arquitetura.

Named
Family Refuge , the space that joined
Janelas CASACOR in 2020 brings the touch of
various fabrics , such as the canvas of the upholstery, the leather and sisal of the rugs, to provide comfort. With the idea of becoming a
family room , Igor Zanon's project features two standout elements: the
classic green sofa , perfect for gathering in the living room; and the
geometric walnut bookcase , which adds dynamism to the entire composition. Both pieces were designed by Estúdio Bola.
Green armchair
It's not hard to assume that
armchairs are not left out of the trend . Perhaps the favorite design piece for architecture lovers, the armchair carries with it the unique power to give a new look to the living room with just an unexpected fabric or design. We've already talked about the
transformative potential of colorful armchairs , and Leo Romano's project is the perfect embodiment of this. Green and blue – traditionally Brazilian tones – run throughout the
monochromatic decor of
Clube Leo , which features scenes reminiscent of childhood and to Leo's imagination. The contemporary furniture includes furniture from the Campana brothers to pieces from Romano's collections. Not to mention the Mole armchair, a classic by Sérgio Rodrigues in
a color never seen before .
To take advantage of the original architecture of the Jockey Club of São Paulo and, at the same time, renew its appearance, Triart Arquitetura delved into
different shades of green , ranging from aqua to flag green. The eclectic furniture explores wood and different textures. , like the
velvet armchair . In the decoration,
hanging plants reinforce the natural character of the space.
To bring a professional and luxurious feel to the
Executive Studio , architect Érica Salguero chose
noble materials and fabrics in the decoration, such as
marble and leather. The first covers an entire wall, while the second gives shape to the
neutral-toned sofa . between grey and beige. In this setting, the moss green of the
Grand Repos velvet armchair by Antonio Citterio is the perfect protagonist.
