More than 180 km of threads were manually “woven” into the museum’s structure with the help of scaffolding. According to curator Maggie Adler, Gabriel’s work is a unique form of expression that escapes the everyday, like true rainbows.
The design by legendary architect Philip Johnson seems perfect for the installation. The atrium's vault has four windows, allowing all types of light incidence, and therefore the entire Technicolor spectrum of the wires.
