It's no longer news that
contact with greenery inside the home is no longer just a decoration trend. It's true that, with the pandemic, the search for
growing vegetable gardens at home has increased – a reflection of people's growing interest in
preservative-free foods that are within reach. Not everyone, however, has a large garden to grow herbs in their backyard; and at this point, the
vertical garden comes as the perfect solution for plant lovers who want to bring even more greenery into their home –
and the best part: without taking up space . Check out 6
vertical garden ideas below!
1. Spice rack
Just imagine the scenario: after cooking a delicious meal, you take a few steps to your gourmet balcony, completely wooded and full of greenery, and look for
fresh ingredients in your own vertical garden . This is the
Chef's Reception Space , a project designed by
Marcelo Diniz ,
Mateus Finzeto and
Deise Pucci for
CASACOR Franca 2017. In the space, spices and fruit trees are
organized in flower boxes, vases and planters placed in a casual way on the shelf and from there they perfume the entire terrace covered by sunshades.
2. Hanging shelf garden
A delicious kitchen, where green appears even on the walls and countertops. The name,
Alecrim Kitchen , already makes us imagine the
combination of delicious aromas that come from this space, designed by
Bernardo Gaudie-Ley and
Tânia Braida , from Beta Arquitetura, for
CASACOR Rio de Janeiro 2018 . There are two types of vertical garden: on the
suspended shelf , above the central island, which offers spices within easy reach – a
super practical solution for those who are cooking ; and also on the
suspended shelf panel , at the back of the composition, which elegantly combines the tone of the wood and the green of the plants.
3. Vegetable garden on shelves
In a
loft with everything that is essential for a good life , of course a vertical garden could not be missing.
Cacau Ribeiro 's sunny and affectionate decoration received, in the small studio attached to the kitchen, a true
urban jungle , where the composition of vases is as expressive as it is full of life.
In this kitchen with
an industrial feel , thanks to the dark coverings and exposed piping,
André Lenza 's proposal was to bring a touch of softness, following the precept that the
kitchen should face the garden , so that it could be transported to a backyard without loss. This is how
Horta 40 came about, a space at
CASACOR Goiás 2018. Here, the
vertical garden occupies an entire wall of the kitchen , housing a variety of species that bring color and delicacy to the space – all without giving up modernity, defined by straight lines, clean surfaces and industrial design.
5. An hour on the kitchen backsplash
The
Chef's Kitchen is a family-friendly space where everyone can come together to embark on culinary adventures. To achieve this, the space designed by
Adriana Canin ,
Daniela Alves Trovo and
Márcia Okamura for
CASACOR Ribeirão Preto was equipped with the necessary technology to provide comfort to the chef. The vegetable garden here occupies an unusual place: instead of hanging or on shelves,
the pots occupy the back of the sink, creating a real backsplash of plants . Fitted into a gap next to the counter, the herbs are in a
strategic position to receive light and be available whenever needed.
6. Next to the dining area
The
Portuguese tiles would perhaps be the main feature of this space, were it not for the
herb garden . Positioned as a sort of
divider between the kitchen and the dining room , the garden always offers fresh herbs and acts as a counterpoint to the blue tones of the composition. Called
Gourmet Loft , the composition by architect and urban planner
Tatielly Zammar integrates with the dining room and other spaces through the
gourmet island . The countertops have a quartz surface, and the carpentry features
certified wood panels . The floor and walls are decorated with charming Blue Memory porcelain tiles.
