This year's exhibition also pays homage to the history of construction – and of Recife! – in environments full of regionalism and identity.

The inauguration of CASACOR Pernambuco 2022 on October 15th also marks another historic moment: the reopening of the iconic Chanteclair Building, one of the most imposing in Recife Antigo, which had been closed for over 20 years. The Infinito Particular theme creates a perfect dialogue with the construction – a finite building, but with a unique and splendid dimension. This year's edition features 26 spaces by young talents and renowned names in Brazilian architecture and design, chosen by the multidisciplinary approach of the exhibition's curators, who always seek to reveal varied styles, perspectives and experiences. Ana Cristina Cunha - Home Copergás. The sensory stimulus of light and shadow defines this project. The search is for infinity, considered by the professional as something incalculable, immeasurable and particular. The predominance of black brings a dramatic appeal associated with elegance, mystery and strength. In contrast, beige appears, conveying calm and passivity. It is a home cinema integrated into the table area with a contemporary look, with a deck overlooking the outdoor area of the historic Chanteclair building.

Diogo Viana Arquitetos - Galeria dos Artesãos. Earthy tones embrace the popular art of Pernambuco in an exhibition and contemplative environment. The immense ceiling height on display allows the naked eye to see the history of the Chanteclair building. Surrounding the space, the floor and half-wall covering from the Brasilidades line, designed by designer Isabela Capeto, brings a contemporary atmosphere.

Dubeux Vasconcelos Arquitetura - Oculum Deca. An oculum is any instrument made up of lenses that aids vision. The Oculum Deca has a large transparent window on the ceiling, which will allow visitors to observe the untouched part of the Chanteclair building, taking people back to the memories of the historic building and connecting the past with the present. All the design, sophistication and technology of Deca products is connected in a fluid layout with living, dining and spa areas, providing visitors with a unique experience.

Fábrica Arquitetura - Espaço Despertar Duratex. Awakening is coming out of a state of torpor. It's feeling, living and being. In the iconic and emblematic interior of the Chanteclair building, the light, feelings and sensations of the emotions experienced here are highlighted. In a place that was once a home, the scene of big parties, restaurants and bars and that was once a boarding house and even a brothel, the event inevitably takes us back to the past, but also shines an intense light towards the future.

Hautlab Creative Studio - Artsy Pills. Small doses of art, design and urban kindness - this is how the concept of Artsy Pills came about, a movement that initiated a series of interventions that manifest the purpose of HautLab, a creative studio. The CASACOR Pernambuco promenade houses an art installation: the idea is to mimic the building itself through mirrored panels that follow the arched shape of the Chanteclair windows.

Ju Nejaim Arquitetura - Quarto Pausa. In the midst of our busy lives, a moment of rest and tranquility is essential to move forward. With this in mind, the atmosphere of the project is one of a welcoming, comfortable and light environment. There are sensory elements such as texture, light and aroma, as well as a palette of soft tones, such as fendi, off-white and touches of wood. The doors and windows are left open to contemplate the landscape and let natural light enter the interior.

The curved and welcoming furniture is distributed throughout the space in corners for sitting, reading and contemplation. A huge glass bookcase brings lightness and highlights books and objects. The project brings comfort and well-being, in addition to the feeling of belonging through memories, providing a state of dedication and concentration to daily activities.

With the professionals' eye, the ultra-compact surface comes to life in the room's coverings and countertops. On the floor, inspired by the iridescent glass from the Milan fair, the Dekton® Zenith shade brings the beauty of Nordic white with a clear finish, which can be harmonized with any type of style and decoration.

Rafaella Bittencourt Arquitetura and Lorena Veloso Arquitetura - The Bar. The project was created in an atmosphere where the new appears while respecting, preserving and dialoguing with the old and historic Chanteclair Building. Sophistication is present on the ground floor, mezzanine and deck through the choice of furniture with history, pieces from the collection and great design icons. A piano and a home cinema bring music, essential to The Bar's proposal. "Our space reflects the importance of respecting the past in order for the future to exist", explain the professionals.

Romero Duarte and Architects - Living Coral. Every Recife resident appreciates downtown Recife, a landmark of cultural identity, framed by the Parque das Esculturas, a legacy of Francisco Brennand. The space is a tribute to him: sculptor, artist, ceramist and great contributor to the formation of the “being of Pernambuco”. From the polychrome of his universe to the essence of Coral paints, there are also nuances of the tones present in his works throughout the lounge.

Vitru Arquitetos - Solar Loft. The first traces came from the windows, or rather, from the light that passes through them and naturally illuminates the environment. This light, which appears and disappears, is preserved in the welcoming lighting, in the choice of materials, textures and tones that range from raw, through pastels, to warm, in a subtle and elegant way. The space is an invitation to belonging, the intention is to make the visitor feel at home, as it is there that we connect to our interior, to the most intimate private infinity.

André Carício - Espaço Ver-se VIVIX, by Kisu. Maintaining the space's monumental identity through existing elements was the guiding principle for the design of the project. The design of the ceiling recalls the original roof and the preservation of the doors strengthens the verticality. The arches rescue the history of Chanteclair and create a dialogue between the spaces. The glass present in the wall covering and in the details of the wooden bookcase conveys the grandeur and timelessness of the space.

Cadu Arquitetura - Gustavo Eyewear. The Gus store is synonymous with color and boldness, this essence was translated into the mix of colors and different textures. The original worn walls were the main element to achieve this experience. The project combines the use of super modern and minimalist materials, such as glass, acrylic and translucent fabrics superimposed on elements from the building's past.

Camila Bittencourt Architecture - Chez Amour. The project is a space that tells love stories. The inspiration came from the old boarding houses and brothels that operated on the first floor of the Chanteclair. The idea of the space is to involve the visitor in this atmosphere that recalls the imagination of what Chanteclair would be like in the past. To achieve this, we took advantage of the ceiling height and part of the original walls of the space, allowing it to be admired in its originality and history, provoking the visitor to reflect on the ephemerality of things, loves, and life.

The project pays homage to this history, highlighting the subtleties of its shapes and ornaments, making it stand out in the urban landscape without aggressively imposing itself on the rich historical and architectural legacy of its surroundings.

Cecília Lemos Arquitetura - Sala Prosa. The project expresses regionalism and cultural traits, uniting the history of the Chanteclair building with artistic expressions from Pernambuco. It is a meeting place, an exchange of emotions, and was designed to have an atmosphere in which music and art are involved in a true symbiosis. The doors invite us to go back in time, just as the project invites us to return to our roots. Squares of wood and cork refer to the adobe houses, together with the black and white checkered floor, referring to the dance floors used in the golden age of the Chanteclair.

In this way, it is inspired by the city's roots, which are valued by integrating the interior with the exterior, referencing the history and rescuing the memory of Recife.

Chanteclair Building


The building belongs to the Santa Casa de Misericórdia , but is ceded to Realesis Empreendimentos, manager of the Paço Alfândega Complex. Built in the first quarter of the 20th century, the building is part of the monumental ensemble formed by the buildings of the Bairro do Recife, Eclectic style, listed by the National Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage – IPHAN. It is characterized by the volumetric and decorative treatment of six properties, in a single volume, occupying the block formed by Av. Marquês de Olinda, Rua da Madre de Deus, Vigário Tenório and Cais da Alfândega, in Recife (PE).

The projects occupy the ground floor and mezzanine of Chanteclair, including apartments, studios, lofts, wellness islands and operations of a restaurant, bar, café, designer eyewear store and even a pet-friendly model square. The lighting project for the area The exterior of the exhibition was entirely done by one of Brazil's greatest lighting technicians, Carlos Fortes, and will be one of the legacies left to the city. The idea is that in next year's edition, which will also take place in the building, Fortes will complete the lighting of the building complete leaving this gift for Recife. “For us, one of the central points of the exhibition is what will remain for the city. This year, we will be able to leave part of the building’s lighting, thanks to this partnership we have with Carlos Fortes and LightSource. Even after the end of CASACOR , we will have part of Chatenclair illuminated. Next year, we will complete this delivery”, celebrates Isabela Coutinho , one of the directors of the exhibition.

Since 2016, Carla Cavalcanti, Gabriela and Isabela Coutinho have been in charge of managing the exhibition in Pernambuco. “We will hold a CASACOR with all the respect and admiration we have for the Chanteclair building. It will be a rescue of the Recife neighborhood, of the iconic facility, united with CASACOR , for our city, maintaining the experience we had in past editions, such as maintaining these spaces with free access to the population”, says Isabela Coutinho. As happens every year, CASACOR Pernambuco reserves part of the funds raised with the exhibition and donates it to a social project. The chosen one for this edition is Casa Zero , a sociocultural space for creativity, social entrepreneurship, cultural innovation, education and impact. social, recently opened on Rua do Bom Jesus.

In addition to Praça Modelo , visitors to CASACOR Pernambuco will also be able to try healthy food at Bistrô Recentro , which will be run by Manu Tenório and will be open throughout the show. In the same operational area, there will also be Restaurante Vivix , operated by Kisu , serving contemporary and Japanese food and the Gambrinus dish – Chateaubriand steak, in homage to the famous restaurant that once operated in Chanteclair. Still in the food and beverage area, The Bar by Diageo will operate, with the signature of Tresor (same group as Kisu), serving signature drinks. The location will also have the Popular Art Gallery, the Cepe Bookstore and the designer eyewear store. , Gus Eyewear .
