CASACOR Minas Gerais

Through the partnership between Ibmec BH and CASACOR Minas, the "Ibmec-se na CASACOR" contest was launched for the college's Architecture and Urban Planning students. Students from all semesters of the course submitted proposals for an intervention in the restrooms of the Palácio das Mangabeiras. The winning team had their project chosen and the intervention was supervised by architect and urban planner André do Prado. Incorporating references to Burle Marx and Niemeyer into the aesthetics, the space proposes a reflection on how we deal with the Covid-19 pandemic. A sticker intervention starts with the contrast, the uninterrupted black line that runs through the rooms, as if to symbolize our persistence. The colors represent diversity, demonstrating how in the midst of the unexpected we look for different ways to solve problems. The hall has the role of bringing a feeling of uncertainty, its dark background does not allow us to see what was once there, bringing the sensory experience of lack of clarity and confusion, feelings that were striking during the pandemic period. Entering the restrooms, this feeling of dispelling. The needs and desire for improvement are symbolized by the original environment that is seen again in the background.
