The search for
sustainable construction is a
priority worldwide . Although the construction industry is one of the sectors that causes the most damage to the environment,
new initiatives are always emerging in the segment to make
processes more environmentally responsible .
Plastic wood is an example of a material that has been gaining strength and prominence in projects.

Plastic wood is a
sustainable material that was created to replace (totally or partially) traditional wood in some parts of
interior design projects. To produce it, manufacturers use
recycled plastic waste to create a
woody appearance , without compromising the
sustainability of the project .
This is undoubtedly one of the biggest questions for professionals who are considering the idea of offering plastic wood to their clients. After all, we know that traditional wood is known for being a long-lasting element. Plastic wood contains residues that protect it from the elements and, for this reason, it is highly recommended for use
on balconies, terraces and outdoor areas . It does not deteriorate with rainwater or pool water and is easy to clean.

On the other hand, there are those who are uncomfortable using this type of wood inside their homes. This is because it does not have the warm, woody texture that brings comfort, and it can be slippery. For those who love a more cozy look, this can end up being a problem. In outdoor areas, plastic wood is increasingly popular in Brazil, while conventional wood is losing ground. The durability of
plastic material is up to 10 times greater than natural wood .
