All the arts contribute to the greatest of all arts, the art of living ,” wrote the famous playwright Bertolt Brecht in his Writings on the Theater. In writing these words, he highlighted the artistic capacity to beautify life and provoke sensations in its spectators. Those who follow this line of reasoning are the architects and decorators at CASACOR Rio Grande do Sul , who used various paintings and sculptures to design the beautiful environments – all aligned with the theme of the 2023 edition of the exhibition, “ Body and Home ”.

Iberê Camargo is one of the most well-known Brazilian artists. With a nationally renowned name, he was close to Cândido Portinari and moved through several artistic movements during his life. A painting by him certainly has quality and immense historical value. This was one of the choices made by architect Francisco Franck in the Estar Íntimo space, where a work by Iberê was placed next to a luxurious marble fireplace.

The works in the space contrast with the linen-covered walls. In addition to Iberê's painting, sculptures by Luiz Felkl and Paulo Caldas bring life to the space. The walls are also decorated with paintings by Teresa Poester and Patrício Farias . In contrast to this modern artistic conception, a contemporary photograph by Luka.Art was chosen, favored by the stage lighting.

Meaning Love - Architecture Poem

Curation is one of the most important processes in an exhibition. After all, it involves an expert's eye for choosing the works to be presented. That's how the Poema Arquitetura office used a special collection to decorate its space: that of Uruguayan artist Carlos Páez Vilaró, creator of Casa Puebla , now a tourist attraction in Punta del Este .

The artwork, a set of paintings with photographs of iconic tourist attractions from around the world, form a rich composition that fills one of the walls of the room. Called “ Quer Dizer Amor ”, the kitchen was designed to inspire unforgettable moments. With this in mind, the architects chose to install a stone floor, representing the solid foundation that is the family, and wooden walls, a material with a rich historical legacy and a classic in Brazilian construction.

The space featured several artists to create an atmosphere designed to provide rare experiences. To achieve this, he opted for a sculpture called “ Jester ”, from Pablo Picasso ’s series of the same name. The piece, signed, numbered and catalogued, is part of a set of works developed by the Spanish painter in the early 20th century, when he was accompanying circus artists. In addition, there are two paintings by Japanese-Brazilian artist and reference in informal abstraction Tomie Ohtake, who was awarded the Order of Rio Branco for her public sculpture commemorating the eightieth anniversary of Japanese immigration to Brazil, in São Paulo. Another award-winning painter who is part of the space is artist Siron Franco , considered the best national painter during his participation in the 12th National Biennial of São Paulo, in 1974. The architect chose the work entitled “ Césio ”, inspired by the radiological accident in Goiânia, which occurred in 1987.

Origins - Izabela Pagani

Designed by Izabela Pagani, the project reflects the architect's way of seeing the world – and this is done with great art. The curation was designed to be a celebration of the richness of human experience and the ability of art to connect us with our memories, activating sensory and emotional aspects, forming a great mosaic of stories.

Márcia Braga 's sculpture seeks ancestry through the use of clay and weaving. André Lacerda , in turn, created sculptures in wood and ceramics that portray the famous phrase by Thomas Hobbes, “Man is a Wolf to Man”. Finally, the indigenous artist Xadalu , known for exploring contact with nature and the worldview of native peoples, used orchid roots in the construction of the work My Heart Still Beats.

Anyone who is inspired by the spaces and wants to bring their own art into their home can purchase canvas prints from Luka.Art at the CASACOR Rio Grande do Sul 2023 Art Studio and Store. The space, designed by W4 Arquitetura , is a true exhibition, where the canvases float, forming a mosaic of images that capture the public's attention. On one of the walls, a flower image overflows and joins the art that illustrates one of the walls of the space.
