Ateliê de Tebas

CASACOR Bahia
This is not just a project, it is a poetic and political tribute to the legacy of Joaquim Pinto de Oliveira, the Tebas — the first black architect in Brazil. With retro-futuristic aesthetics and mid-century design features, the project functions as a creation studio that celebrates memory, resistance, and black permanence in architecture. Colors such as green, mustard, and brown, along with preserved elements from the original property, connect the past and the present. Sketches and works by black artists complete the scene, as if Tebas were designing, alongside his symbolic heirs, other possible futures. By preserving materials and honoring Brazilian architecture, the project reaffirms ancestry as an aesthetic, political language and a manifesto for a collective future.
