O-Tower is a loop-shaped skyscraper

Dubbed the “ O-Tower ,” the Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) -designed building in Hangzhou, China will house an extensive program for the country’s largest smartphone company , OPPO, as well as an urban living room and landscape lush green for the public to enjoy.

Articulated in a loop shape , the skyscraper was designed to reduce energy consumption and express the company's commitment to endless innovation, connecting the ground to the sky in a continuous loop of collaboration.

The sloping roof also allows for a series of triple-height voids and interconnected terraces where employees can interact and socialize. The building will be wrapped in a unique “fingerprint façade” of adaptive louvers oriented according to the angle of the sun.

“We try to imagine that the future workplace at OPPO is sustainable on a triple bottom line: economically , ecologically and socially ,” said Bjarke Ingles, founder and creative director of BIG.

The first three floors are dedicated to exhibitions, conference centers, a canteen and an incubator for external workshops. The main feature of the program is the publicly accessible courtyard on the first floor.
