The entire layout of this 350 m² apartment located in Ipanema Beach (RJ) was modified by architect
Gabriela Eloy – from
CASACOR Rio de Janeiro – at the request of the resident, a young businessman. The view of the beach was enhanced and the client's personal collection set the tone for the décor.

The four original
bedrooms were replaced by the three current suites. The decor blended modern and contemporary styles, as the client had in his collection true heirlooms inherited from his family that, in some way, tell his own story.

“
He already had some old furniture designed by Sergio Rodrigues, all in rosewood , which we incorporated into the décor of the social area, such as the dining table, the two sideboards next to it, the games table and all the chairs. We complemented it with other creations, also by Sergio,” says Gabriela.

“In addition to the carpentry, we also used a darker tone on the living room floor, covered with gray porcelain. We repeated the same material on the balcony to give a sense of continuity and integration of the spaces,” highlights Gabriela.

According to the architect, the main challenge of the project was to complete the furniture from the resident's personal collection with contemporary pieces with
clean lines, without overshadowing the shine of the existing pieces, with the exception of the
Up armchair (with ottoman), an icon of the 1970s designed by
Gaetano Pesce , which steals the show in the living room, close to the balcony.
