The youngest architect to debut at
CASACOR Rio 2023 ,
Tom Castro , 25, is responsible for this
400 m² duplex apartment located in Jardim Oceânico (RJ). The owners are twins
Lucas and Matheus Coutinho , owners of the
Noa Ipanema restaurant.
The residents' request was for a clean and fun apartment that prioritized well-being to comfortably welcome their many friends and family.
A large painting by artist
Marcelo Solá sets the irreverent tone of the property. All the furniture is of Brazilian design, with pieces by
Jader Almeida ,
Sérgio Rodrigues ,
estudiobola and
Latoog , among others.
Some radical changes were made to the service area to give priority to the bedrooms.
On the first floor, the brothers' suites are joined by a large common closet, measuring 32 m² .
The rooms are very different and reflect the personality of their residents. Matheus prefers a calm room in light tones, while Lucas prefers dark colors.
With integrated areas and plenty of natural light, the
second floor of the apartment is the most used. It houses the entire social area:
cinema, guest suite, swimming pool, solarium and gourmet area. The gourmet area houses a kitchen with barbecue, beer cooler and ice machine.
One of the residents' wishes was for the roof to be fully technological. "We installed
solar panels and fully
automated the house: lighting, sound in the pool area, kitchen and TV room, cameras, air conditioning and cinema equipment. And the best part: everything is controlled by iPad," explains Tom.
