Mainly used in
industrial-style projects ,
burnt cement is a material originally made with cement, water and sand. Nowadays, paint companies have adapted to this timeless element and offer solutions that copy the texture and color. Different
shades of gray can be incorporated into a
project with burnt cement to adapt the color to the climate and combinations that will be created in the space. Below, we have selected five environments that have been featured in past editions of
CASACOR to serve as inspiration. Check it out!

Letícia Vieia and Claudio Saladino innovated at
CASACOR Santa Catarina by using
burnt cement on the garage floor to create this small resting space. The floor contrasts harmoniously with the plants that surround the entire wall and leaves the industrial atmosphere "corrupted" by the plants in the environment.
Despite being a strong and robust coating, it is possible to include
burnt cement in lighter compositions . Called Anexo Concreto, the project by Carpaneda & Nasr Arquitetos Associados combined burnt cement with other more "clean" elements, such as off-white furniture.
Lots of personality in the composition of
Gustavo Neves ' unisex bathroom exhibited at
CASACOR São Paulo 2016. Here, the
rustic finish was chosen on purpose to give the space a more raw and modern feel. The
burnt cement seems tailor-made to give elegance to the project. The lighter shade allows for an interesting contrast, whether in the sink or in the frames of the Brazilian model
Ivan Erick .
Anyone who says that a monochromatic industrial style is boring is simply not familiar with
Érica Salgueiro 's
Industrial Kitchen . In the project, the specialist incorporated elements that reinforce the urban atmosphere and invested in a simplistic color palette in shades of black, white, gray and reclaimed wood. The central island brings
practicality and sophistication . And the combined carpentry was a good choice to ensure a more refined look amidst a more rustic base.
One of the main advantages of using burnt cement is its versatility. After all, it is possible to incorporate this element into a variety of projects and combine it with everything from a neutral base for cleaner compositions to more colorful and playful projects. The second case applies very well here. In the project by
Itália Daudt exhibited at
CASACOR São Paulo 2016, the specialist chose the colors yellow, orange and red to create a more playful and artistic atmosphere in the space. The burnt cement looked great as
a wall covering , housing
light panels and also super colorful
decorative paintings .
