Architect David Bastos heads the office that bears his name and is headquartered in two states: the first in Salvador and the second in São Paulo. With a degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), he began his career working for the Bahian government in the development of affordable housing and urbanism. He opened his own studio in the 1990s, when he took on some beach house projects on the Bahian coast. His interiors drew attention for their straddling of contemporary, rustic and classic styles – and, as a result, his name was featured in national publications. Over almost three decades, his practice expanded and David and his team took on numerous projects of different types (including residences, commercial and corporate environments) throughout Brazil, in addition to also signing projects in the United States and Portugal.
