Water Day: 4 projects of floating houses to be impressed
On World Water Day, celebrated on March 22, it is essential to think about innovative and sustainable ways to live in harmony with this essential resource. The floating houses represent a creative response to urban and project challenges by combining sophisticated design, energy efficiency, and respect for nature. Discover 4 floating residences and see how it is possible to live over water with comfort and cutting-edge technology:

WaterNest 100 - Italy

[gallery-april id="190461" type="slider" showtitle="undefined" data-restrict="false"] The WaterNest 100 is a floating house that can be installed in any calm lake or river. Designed by Italian architect Giancarlo Zema, the floating residential unit has a 100 m² usable area, with a structure made from recycled laminated wood and a recycled aluminum hull, making it up to 98% recyclable. The house is powered by solar energy through 60 m² of photovoltaic solar panels and has a water recycling system. The large panoramic windows and side balconies provide wide views and a direct connection with the aquatic project, as well as natural light.

Floating Seahorse Villas - Dubai

[gallery-april id="190459" type="slider" showtitle="undefined" data-restrict="false"] The set of luxurious partially submerged floating houses from Floating Seahorse Villas has rooms below sea level, offering a direct view of marine life. Located in the artificial archipelago The World Islands, off the coast of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the villas were designed by Kleindienst Architects with a three-level structure: underwater, sea level, and upper deck. Each villa has a total area of approximately 372 m² distributed across the three levels.

Arkup 75 - Miami

Known as "habitable yacht", the Arkup 75 measures approximately 22 m in length, spread over two floors, with four bedrooms and three outdoor areas – totaling an area of 405 m². The glass walls and various internal levels offer a luxurious experience integrated into the marine project. Equipped with four retractable hydraulic columns of 12 meters, the Arkup can rise above sea level for stability during adverse weather conditions. The house-boat has solar panels, rainwater collection system, and hydraulic thrusters. The architectural design was developed by the company Arkup in collaboration with the Dutch architecture studio Waterstudio.NL.

Watervilla de Omval - Netherlands

[gallery-april id="190462" type="slider" showtitle="undefined" data-restrict="false"] Among the various projects and designs of floating houses in the Netherlands, the project of the Watervilla de Omval (or Omval Water Villa), designed by Dutch architects from +31 Architects, is an interesting example of this type of architecture. Designed to withstand rising sea levels, this house-boat uses solar energy and has a self-sufficient water treatment system. The residence floating on the Amstel River has a more contemporary design due to the use of shiny aluminum for the exterior cladding, which perfectly follows the curve of the facade. To achieve better natural lighting inside the house, the architects created openings in the ceiling. The residence has a 200 m² area, divided into two spacious floors, a terrace on part of the roof, and a deck over the water.
