Liza Minelli and Elton John are some of the international stars who have performed on that “stage”. Those were different times, the 1960s and 1970s, when the triplex in Lagoa belonged to music producer
Alfredo Machado , who always used the third floor as an informal studio. Today, the property has a new owner, but its vocation for music remains untouched.
An amateur musician and lover of parties and
jam sessions , he made sure to keep the studio. But, of course, he renovated everything. Just like he did in
the entire apartment of over 1,000 m² , which underwent a long renovation led by architect
Maurício Nóbrega , a professional from the
CASACOR Rio de Janeiro cast.
In addition to all the necessary acoustic treatment, the studio received a lighting project by
Maneco Quinderé , who made a stage light for the space. After all, there are many musicians – professional or not, famous or not – who frequent the space.
In addition to the studio – which was opened to the greenery –, the third floor also gained a
music room (to store instruments) and the entire structure to host parties:
bar, living room , gourmet kitchen and swimming pool on the balcony that was fully integrated, creating a large social area.
"
The idea was for the apartment to become almost like a club . Both to welcome musician friends and to welcome their children and nine grandchildren, since many of them live outside the country and when they come to Brazil they stay at their grandfather's house", says Maurício.
It is no surprise that, in addition to an entire floor dedicated to leisure, the property also gained
five comfortable suites and the old service area, located in an external outbuilding, was transformed into
a studio, playroom and gym – complete with a
climbing wall for the little ones. Located at the top of a hill, the
apartment also has an exclusive entrance at the back of the building , which makes it even more special, as it takes on the feel of a house. This private façade, by the way, was also renovated by Maurício, who built a stone wall there that added even more charm to the property. The
landscaping was done by Barbara Soveral .
The decor has changed completely. One detail added by the architect was the use of
peroba wood , which appears in practically every room: in panels, brise-soleils and even in the lining of the pillars in the living room, as well as in the master bedroom and
bathrooms . The furniture was reused from the residents' old apartment, which Maurício also renovated about ten years ago.
"It was all so timeless that we decided to keep it. And we created a
layout that accommodated the pieces they already had.
We just needed to increase the art collection , because this apartment has more walls, as it is larger," he concludes.
