Peruvian Roque Saldias’ project for CASACOR Miami 2017 combines the functions of a living room and a cabinet of curiosities. The White Canvas invites art lovers to contemplate works from different eras. Modern furniture provides a comfortable vantage point. to admire the pieces included in the space.
Among the decorative objects are an ancient Syrian chest made of wood and mother-of-pearl; handmade alpaca rugs; and a modernized quipu, an Inca record-keeping device. “I imagined it as a jewelry box,” says Roque Saldias.
The professional opted for the contrast of elegant pieces with natural tones of wool, alabaster and gold against white walls. Dark and ochre works surround contemporary design pieces, such as the Ro Easy chair by Jaime Hayon. The Swan chair, by Arne Jacobsen , shares space with a rug made from vintage alpaca ponchos.
