Optimizing natural light: Architects Carolina Leal Ribas and Denise Leal Ribas, who designed the “Dinner and Living Room” project, chose to maintain the original ceiling height, allowing natural light to enter the space. In addition, reforested wood is present in almost all of the room’s coverings. In the “Gourmet Kitchen,” designed by Bruna Moribe and Carol Bastos, a shed was incorporated, a large opening in the ceiling that also allows natural light to enter. “The shed not only contributes to beautification, but also to reducing electricity consumption, since it eliminates the need for artificial lighting for a good part of the day,” explains Bruna Moribe.
Recyclable Materials: The use of recyclable materials is present in the project for “Empório Orgânico”, by architect Mariana Paula Souza, where two metal drums were given a new purpose as a table. In the “Studio do Executivo”, architect Guilherme Albuquerque, in partnership with visual artist Sila Lima, designed the installation DeskARTE, which is composed of metal scraps taken from dumpsters. “DeskARTE sculptures and installations are sustainable, and the raw materials found are visually reorganized and remodeled until they are transformed into a new object with a new language”, explains the artist. Container: Businessman Perci Hultmann partnered with designer Gisele Busmayer and architect Carolina Reis to design the “Entrance and Cochère Portico”, which is made up of two 40-foot containers and was built around a legally protected tree.
