Located in Belo Horizonte (MG), this
64 m² duplex apartment was purchased by a couple in their 50s who spend most of the year in Trancoso (BA), where they have a guest house. The goal was to transform the property into a support point during their vacations in the capital of Minas Gerais, as well as a space to store and display many personal items, with
emphasis on their art collection .
For this mission, architect
Júnior Piacesi came into play. “They asked that the project be designed based on storage solutions, and not the other way around,” he says.
Without demolishing walls , the focus was on transforming the interiors through carpentry solutions designed by the office to optimize and divide the small spaces of the apartment without creating barriers and ensuring plenty of storage areas, such as the wardrobe in the
bedroom (which gives access to the
bathroom ), the extensive rack in the living room and the “wall” of cabinets in front of the
kitchen cooking island, which also functions as a dining table.
“We prioritized simple and bold materials to create contemporary and welcoming environments, such as the
white brick that covers the main wall. The
gray porcelain floor and the
ribbed slab ceiling were already there and we decided to keep them,” explains the architect.
Overall, the decor adopted an
industrial aesthetic , based on sober tones of black, white and gray, and was assembled from furniture, objects and works of art that were already part of the clients' personal collection, with the exception of the sofa, which was purchased, and the double bed, which was designed by the carpenter. "The headboard was upholstered with an old, worn-out canvas that the clients themselves brought from Bahia," says Piacesi.
