A home will have several versions throughout its life . Changeable by nature and by the movement inherent to living and to the resident – which creates traces, flows, meanings and memories –, a home rarely remains unchanged. Until the moment comes when what is lived in that same space needs to be reinvigorated. These are the cycles, the phases, the seasons. Everything passes through the space, through the body of those who inhabit it and express themselves. That's what led architect Mariana Maisonnave to this 390
m2 penthouse on the
Jurerê Internacional seafront , located in Florianópolis. A plan to modernize the spaces, making them more aligned with the profile of its resident, who enjoys the company of friends in the comfort of home.
The time for this transformation was short. The architect had to be strategic to optimize the
45-day renovation process at the address. Initially, after surveying the property's needs program, he looked at what was already there, the
furniture that could be reused with a new skin, fabrics, finishes.
"We chose to preserve everything that was cool about the apartment and replace what was essential", he determined. In this way, the existing sofas in the living room were now combined with a
new contemporary bench , which replaced two armchairs from the past. The
more neutral palette is an expressive element in the architect's work, a supporter and defender of
natural lighting . The light tones, with more discreet and delicate textures, in contact with the light serve as counters and, at the same time, create an
extreme atmosphere of elegance and lightness . Then Mariana started working her magic. He added the Jabuticaba pendant, by designer Ana Neute, under the dining table and covered the surrounding chairs with new fabrics.
In the gourmet area, the coverings were changed following the predominant tone of the proposal. The barbecue, previously partially covered with Itaúnas granite, was
completely black . The stools used on social gatherings near the bench also gave way to natural leather pieces, comfortable and elegant, designed by
Daniela Ferro .
Bringing light into life – in a natural, delicate way – is the architect’s trademark. The suite had its moment of transmutation
, going from dark to a light and calm environment . The presence of wood, the grayish carpet and the wallpaper with microtextures determined the permanent effect. The same floor plan applied to the guest suites.
Outside, the balcony that surrounds the entire property gained prominence after the architect passed by the property. Previously obsolete, it was completely remodeled with
contemporary design furniture from Artefacto. Now it has become the
best space in the apartment to see the sea just a few meters ahead. See more photos of the project in the gallery below:
