This address in
Estoril (Portugal) has a past linked to royalty: built in the last decade of the 19th century, the space was initially used during periods dedicated to
Queen D. Maria Pia 's sea bathing. But she liked the property so much that she turned it into her second home. Today, in addition to the Paço do Estoril (where the chalet that belonged to the royal family is located), there is also a residential building and
gardens that integrate historical and contemporary buildings, creating a coexistence space for residents and guaranteeing the properties a beautiful view.
And this is where this apartment designed by
Andrea Chicharo – from the
CASACOR Rio cast – is located, to be a holiday refuge for an elderly Brazilian couple. With three suites and a large floor plan of
240 m² , the property already has unusual features in Brazil, such as the
floor-to-ceiling doors , which the architect loves for providing a certain sophistication.
But she also imprinted Brazilianness on the dressing table in the main
bathroom and on the
cobogós in the living room , which replace part of the hallway wall, giving more lightness to the social area and bringing an air of integration.
The
balcony , which extends to the couple's bedroom, also gained an extra room for more relaxed moments. The decor is very contemporary and features a mix of materials, textures and styles. "I like to make these combinations of various materials and languages. I think this creates a design that makes the house visually richer, more interesting. And more personalized too", says Andrea.
This mix also appears in the curation of works of art. The social area, for example, has a
painting by Frida Baranek and a
collection by the Portuguese José Loureiro in the TV environment, as well as a
photograph of João Orléans and Bragança , at dinner.
The lighting project, created in partnership with the firm
Donker and Guest , used lamps that were almost always small, but of great power, as well as luminaires in specific points to create special scenes.
