With all the lightness of the Carioca way of being and located in the heart of Copacabana (RJ), this
200 m² apartment, originally from the 1960s/1970s, gained new and bold airs with the project signed by
Fernanda Medeiros, from the CASACOR Rio cast . (Luiza Schreier/Divulgação)
It all started when the residents, a couple with two pre-teen children, felt the need to renovate the
living room so they could have a space to entertain friends and enjoy family time. To do this, the architect decided to invert the location of the dining room and TV room, as well as creating other living areas, integrating them all.

“A significant change we made was to the
balcony . We took the opportunity to enhance this space, where the view is beautiful, and created a
space with a small table that is perfect for a family coffee while admiring the sea, or for entertaining friends for a glass of wine . We brought the sea even closer to home through a set of mirrors,” says Fernanda.

During the construction process (which took just two months to complete), some original aspects of the building were preserved.

In the decoration, the architect opted for a mix of
light materials , such as
light wood, straw and white metals , to create a balance between this mix of old and contemporary.

“At the entrance to the apartment, we created a kind of '
prayer hall '. The family, who are very religious, wanted to display sacred objects, sculptures and images in order to create an environment for prayers and also for blessings for those who come and go,” says Fernanda.

It is also worth highlighting the
carpentry as a major distinguishing feature of the project. It is present in the format of
natural American oak veneer and straw details, and in several pieces of furniture designed by the architect herself: the rack, the wine cellar, the bookcase with bench that integrates the living and TV areas, and the support furniture in the gourmet area.
