Curated by Arthur Jorge Lima and Thais Domingues, artists
Anália Moraes, André Mendes, Felix Blume, Fernanda Pompermayer, Gabriella Garcia, Miguel Thomé and Ottavia Delfanti present 'Volátil', a group show at the
'Espaço Alto' Building , in the center of the capital of São Paulo.
Inspired by Zygmunt Bauman's fluidity and mutability in the contemporary world , the exhibition explores the ephemeral nature of time and life. Ceramics, oil and acrylic on canvas, sound art and works in fabric and resin make up the show, which runs until November 18. “The photographs, which capture static moments, serve as catalysts for recording works that address mutability and balance through chaos, whether through sculptures, paintings or sound art. The artists reinterpret and observe time in order to create a liquid perspective, revealing the temporal fissures between the static and the mutable. The exhibition challenges the boundaries between solid and liquid, the physical and the psychic, exploring the relationship between nature and humanity. In this process, it highlights the beauty of movement and the fluidity of transformations, reflecting the era of instantaneity and the need to accept mutability as a natural part of the cycle of life”, explains curator
Thais Domingues. (Gabriella Garcia / CASACOR)
Anália Moraes created 'Dilúvio', a ceramic sculpture with glass and hand-woven fishing net, in which she presents the overflow as a rupture in which there is an erotic, continuous opening. Also in ceramic, but glazed with glass and mother-of-pearl, is the series
'Escudo Cristalino' by Fernanda Pompermayer , in which the parallel between observation in both nature and humanity is present in the work that reveals a different perspective at each angle from which it is observed, including its interior.
Miguel Thomé 's new work is made from authorial documentary photographs in which the artist resignifies the image by unifying the environment with the body. Using materials valued by the clergy as a demonstration of power,
Gabriella Garcia recreates gestures of historical devotion with artificial intelligence in 'Some Paridise' and opens space for reflection on the limits of the image as an icon, on the concept of devotion and power in contemporary times. 'Gruta', an oil on canvas by
André Mendes , punctuates the creation of a body with diverse interpretations that transcends matter, creating a reflection on the limits between space and the body and on the linearity of time. And, to conclude, 'Mergulho', by
Ottavia Delfanti, portrays the unpredictability of how the image reacts in fluid materials that solidify, whether in resin or latex, moving the practice until a work takes shape.

Armando Lara Building - High Space The
Espaço Alto , which made the project possible, is located in the Armando Lara building (1916), located in downtown São Paulo. The building, listed by the Council for the Defense of Historical Heritage (Condephaat), has the
architectural design by Ramos de Azevedo . In this same building, in 1917, the building made its name in the history of the Arts, with the controversial Modern Art Week of 1922, hosting in 1917, the solo Exhibition of Modern Painting by Anita Malfatti. For two years,
Espaço Alto has positioned itself as a cultural space that makes it possible to create independent exhibitions.
