The Ema Klabin House Museum returns with a new edition of the exhibition Mesa (Ex) Posta , curated by Paulo de Freitas Costa . In each edition, the exhibition reproduces the table of one of the exquisite dinners that Ema Klabin served to her guests, among them illustrious figures such as Assis Chateaubriand, Magda Tagliaferro, Ciccillo Matarazzo and José Mindlin. Ema Klabin planned all her dinners in a special notebook, where she wrote down all the details of the table decoration, menu and guests. In this edition, the table setting reproduces the dinner held on August 17, 1962, offered to Bebê Quartim Barbosa and the newlyweds Mário and Regina. Among the guests were the conductor João Carlos Martins and the decorator Terri Della Stufa (1919 – 1982).

The table was set with a white ruffled pleated tablecloth, Limoges china, Moser crystal, candlesticks and an antique English silver tureen with a buttercup arrangement. The menu included coconut milkshake, tomato cream, shrimp puff pastry, partridges with cream, coconut mousse, white Chablis (1955) and red Pommard (1953) wines. According to the curator, the exhibition develops a narrative that evokes the presence and experience of the home, dinners, and the dynamics of uses and customs practiced in everyday domestic life. “The exhibition also provides an opportunity to display items from the collection that are normally kept in storage, such as dinner services, porcelain sets, silverware, glass and cutlery sets, tea sets, platters, table markers, among others,” explains Paulo Costa.
