"Life in Things" exhibition contrasts technology and nature at CCBB RJ
A worldwide success, the exhibition "Life in Things" , on display at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil Rio de Janeiro ( CCBB RJ ), features surprising installations, full of movement and deeper meanings than what can be seen with the naked eye.

The project is the result of the work of a duo of Dutch artists who are at the forefront of Studio Drift , Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta . Through different exhibitions, the artists sought to create a reconnection between human beings and the environment and nature .

To do this, they use technological resources that enhance and contrast natural beauty to make visitors reflect on their own essence.

This is the first time that a representative set of works by the artists has been presented on Brazilian soil, although the duo has already toured a strong international circuit. Their works have been exhibited at The Shed (New York, 2021), Art Basel (2017, 2021), Victoria & Albert Museum (London, 2009, 2015), Venice Biennale (2015), among others.
One of the highlights of the exhibition, located in one of the most prominent spaces at CCBB RJ, is the Shylight installation – a hypnotic sculpture that opens and closes, in a fascinating choreography that imitates the behavior of flowers that, at night, close as a form of protection and resource conservation .

Another piece that is catching the attention of visitors is Fragile Future , in which the artists capture around 15,000 seeds each spring in Amsterdam , and dehydrate them to incorporate them into an electronic system that includes phosphor bronze and LED lights .
