A new feature that will be back for
ArtRio 2023 is
CIGA – Integrated Circuit of Art Galleries –, which was created with the aim of
bringing the Rio public and visitors to the city closer to the visual arts. The event, which has always been
a success with the public, offers a
tour of galleries and
cultural spaces with a rich agenda of exhibitions, debates and guided tours. Its last in-person edition was held in
2019 and, in recent years, due to the pandemic, the agenda took place virtually.
“2023 will be a year of fresh start, renewal, reunion. We want to start ArtRio's agenda by inviting people to
participate in CIGA , discover new forms and languages of art, debate new themes and interact. We understand the importance of encouraging
visits to galleries and
cultural spaces as a way of incorporating art into everyone's daily lives”, says
Brenda Valansi , president of ArtRio.
Among the highlights of CIGA Verão will be: the artist
Thiago Barbalho who will give a guided tour of his exhibition
"After you enter, nobody leaves" , curated by
Raphael Fonseca ; and the exhibition
"Outro Lugar" , by photographer
Pedro Andrade , with around 21 photographs, with records of cultures and communities that still maintain their traditions, despite the pressures of globalization.
