At a time when the very nature of public space has become dangerous due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the emergence of new forms, models and prototypes of environments that encourage socialization and the possibility of gathering again safely has gained momentum. With this in mind, the Social With Distancing restaurant was born, designed by Renesa Studio in Dwarka, a residential and diplomatic neighborhood in New Delhi, India. Initially, the project was designed and thought out before the pandemic, and then translated to respond to the new “normality” imposed by the spread of the virus.

The use of natural materials and soft tones of wood , cement bricks, rice and cane aims to achieve not perfection but real ambiance. Earthy tones and greens, when added to rice brick wall cladding, add a touch of home. from field to space.
For partitions and furniture, the same approach was applied. The partitions employ fluted glass with a sliding folding design, maintaining the interactive nature. The furniture and lighting crafted from natural cane meet the functional needs of the project, integrating harmoniously with the same language as the rest of the space.

The presence of several levels expands the space and multiplies the number of seats . Small tables, rooms and isolated areas for groups of people are carefully arranged to form pockets of privacy and distance.

The restaurant's ultimate intention was for the spaces to take place both in the proposed set of furniture, and in the subtleties that the environment creates between form and function, open and closed, between the pandemic and the new normal .
