Pastel tones are very popular for creating more delicate decorations, in this case, they invaded the architecture and urban planning of an urban street in
Strasbourg ,
France , located
around a community garden .
Because they are surrounded by
landscaping , the buildings bring a more romantic feel to the space. The development is next to the Saint-Urban cemetery and the Parc de l'Etoile, and has
different colors , ranging from
dark blue and grayish to pistachio green. light and bubblegum pink . The aim was to create harmony between the new buildings and the existing architecture in the region.
“The idea was to use color as a tool that could express the
continuity of the elements that already existed – on one side there is a pink building, which was one of the first we had to work with, and there is this very small architecture of the cemetery that it’s blue, then there’s a square made of Bordeaux [red] stone,” comments the co-founder of the Local Architecture Network (LAN) Architecture, Umberto Napolitano.
The objective was
to create an identity for the project that serves housing units, offices, hotels and even retail, thus attracting more interested parties and architecture enthusiasts to boost commerce.
“From the beginning of the project we looked for a strategic form that could express continuity and at the same time a strong identity in itself”, says Napolitano.
The
residential section of the building has more than 170 apartments spread across six buildings, including an 18-story navy blue tower. Meanwhile, another
building serves as a hotel and the last block serves as an office . In addition to the colors, the building's facade stands out for its
symmetrical, recessed and grouped windows , which form a beautiful "picture" for those viewing from outside.
