One of the most characteristic elements of the architecture of the Federal Capital has been highlighted in projects at CASACOR Brasília . A symbol of Brazilian architecture, the cobogó is present in at least seven environments of the 2024 edition of the exhibition, which runs until October 16, at Arena BRB Mané Garrincha. Because it is hollow, cobogó is a great ally for amplifying the entry of natural light and facilitating cross ventilation. In the exhibition, it appears in various formats and materials: clay, cement, wood, ceramic and brick. The new versions of the construction element, however, reaffirm its main functions: dividing spaces and promoting bioclimatic efficiency , a very current theme. Created in 1929 by two merchants and an engineer from Pernambuco who used the initials of their surnames – Coimbra, Boeckmann and Góes – to name the invention, the element emerged as a sun visor and was inspired by the designs of the Arab mashrabiyas , with their openwork wooden frames, like those that appear in the space The Garden by Bela Salvati, project signed by Olzi Arquitetura . Round and white, the cobogó allows natural light into the SV² Lounge – the exhibition’s ticket office designed by Studio Virdula and Studio Vanguarda . The same tone was chosen by Mariana Leal for the Morada 11.11 environment, and by Studio Arch+ for the Casa Conectada Claro . Mariana Leal - Morada 11.11.
Architect Márcio Correa inserted the classic cobogós that appear in buildings in Brasilia into his Meu Ryokan space. In the project, they were interspersed with elements forming an original image. Anastácia Hersen and Mateus Mendes used handmade brick-colored cobogós in the Loft Alimento do Corpo space, by Mente da Alma . At Chef Simon Lau's Cucan Restaurant , a project by On Arquitetura that pays homage to Brasília, the cobogó is in the background, providing a view of the dining area.
