10 dream beach houses to enjoy the summer
Favorite destinations for Brazilians in the summer, beaches across the country bring together millions of families during the hottest months of the year – December, January and February – seeking leisure and relaxation during the holiday period under the blazing sun. For those who frequent the coast, a great investment option – and one that also contributes greatly to your own comfort during your trip – is to buy your own dream beach house . More than that, second homes – when designed as a real residence and not just a holiday destination, thus being equipped with everything necessary for a family to live in comfort and well-being – can even become the family's official residence , as was the case of this family that officially moved into the greenery of Holambra (SP) . Below, discover 10 residences on the Brazilian coast that offer wonderful views of the sea and nature , showcasing the best our country has to offer: the natural beauty of lush greenery and breathtaking blue skies.

Located on Feiticeira beach, in Ilhabela, on the coast of São Paulo, this single-story, light and integrated house was designed by Rafa Zampini , from the CASACOR SP cast, and uses its main attraction as a backdrop: the ocean itself.

“[The starting point] was to create something more integrated with nature in order to reduce the environmental impact, so the house was designed as a large concrete portico so as not to draw attention to its height, but to blend in with the surroundings of the Feiticeira beach coastline”, explains the architect.

2. Greek inspired house by Brise Arquitetura

A family consisting of a couple and their two young children called on architects Bitty Talbolt and Cecília Teixeira , from the Brise Arquitetura office, part of the CASACOR RJ team, to make their dream of a residence with a gourmet area overlooking the sea in Búzios (RJ) come true.

The renovation included several changes: the main one was in the kitchen, which was integrated with the new 24 m² gourmet area . But the cherry on the cake of the project is definitely the balcony : located between the new kitchen and the deck facing the beach, the area was protected with a pergola and a glass roof, lined internally with straw mats . “This feature made the space more charming and welcoming and, in practical terms, helps to filter out excess sunlight , especially on extremely hot days,” says Bitty.

3. 845 m² house gains five floors by Escala Arquitetura

It took two years to fully execute the renovation, expansion and decoration project for this house located in the Jardim Botânico neighborhood (RJ), where a family consisting of a couple with three children already lived. In order for the property to reach its current 845 m² of built area, distributed over five floors , architects Carolina Escada and Patricia Landau , from Escala Arquitetura , had to do detailed structural planning.

“What we would find when we excavated the land to expand a few floors and create a second basement was a mystery,” says Carolina. After the renovation, the ground floor was expanded into a large entertaining area , with a living room and gourmet space integrated into an open balcony , complete with an infinity pool overlooking the landscape. Underneath it, a second basement was excavated to house a guest bedroom, a new playroom, a new service area and a balcony with a spa and sauna.

With interior design by Nildo José , architecture by Gui Mattos and landscaping by Rodrigo Oliveira, this 570 m² house was designed to be used all year round – despite being located on Baleia beach, on the north coast of São Paulo, the house even has a fireplace in the living room .

“The client asked for the barbecue area to be outdoors, but that it could be closed on cold and rainy days, so we made a retractable cover to meet this request,” says Nildo. As the client is an art collector and a lover of Brazilian design , the furniture selection was made very carefully. Highlights include the Bowl Armchair, a classic by Lina Bo Bardi, and the Jangada armchair, by Jean Gillon.

5. Urban style is striking in this 420 m² beach house

Located in Barra da Tijuca (RJ), this two-story house – with 420 m² of built area on a 600 m² plot of land – underwent a complete renovation by architects Paula Wetzel and Camila Simbalista , from Studio 021 Arquitetura , part of CASACOR Rio de Janeiro .
The decor follows a contemporary style , with a light and relaxed feel. In the social area, the architects opted for a light and neutral base of gray and white, and added earthy tones , brown leather and natural wood furniture to make the space more welcoming. “Our biggest challenge in this project was to create a house with integrated social spaces that encourage family and friends to spend time together, but without giving up well-defined spaces so that each resident can have privacy whenever they want,” concludes architect Paula Wetzel.

6. 600 m² beach house incorporates lush vegetation

The STAL Arquitetura office, formed by the duo Alessandra Pinho and Stella Teixeira , designed this 600 m² house in Guarujá, in the interior of São Paulo, designed for a young couple with two small children. The renovation prioritized, above all, the creation of a light and relaxed atmosphere . Therefore, there were no changes to the architecture of the house, except for the removal of a pergola on the porch, between the house and the pool, which made the living room and dining room very dark.

The use of neutral and natural tones , as well as wood and linen for furniture, takes into account the local climate conditions, prioritizing furniture made of aluminum, nautical rope and fabric suitable for exposure to sun and rain for the outdoor area. In some areas, neutral tones are combined with green details to harmonize with the lush nature of the place.

The story of this 110 m² house in Angra dos Reis begins during the pandemic, when a family with a teenage son decided to rent the property to spend the isolation period. The experience was so successful that they decided to buy the property to spend their holidays. To give the house their own feel, interior designer Paola Ribeiro was called in to oversee a major renovation.

The highlight of the project is the balcony, which has been turned into a gourmet space with a barbecue , after being covered with a pergola. From there, it is possible to see the condominium canal , as well as receive guests in comfort. The open kitchen is integrated into the living room and follows the décor of the entire project, based on a “ beach chic ” style.

Located in Riviera de São Lourenço, on the coast of São Paulo, this beach house was designed to accommodate a young couple with two children. The project, designed by Raiz Arquitetura, the architects and partners Alexandre Ferraz and Elias Souza , focuses on providing solutions that allow guests to enjoy moments of leisure and rest while also connecting with the elements of the region's native forest .

Integration with nature is one of the key points of the project: through strategically placed openings in the social area, residents can enjoy the richness of natural textures present in both the landscaping and the natural vegetation of the Atlantic Forest surrounding the house. In addition, the use of glass panels between the blocks was designed to prioritize natural lighting and cross ventilation inside the residence, allowing for better thermal comfort on hot days.

To the north of Santa Catarina Island, in a gated community on Ingleses beach, the so-called “Casa dos Encontros” (House of Encounters), designed by architect Andressa Venturini – from CASACOR Santa Catarina –, was built between the hills and the blue sea. The architect explains that everything was designed so that moments can be experienced together . The intention is in the arrangement of the furniture, where the word encounter is taken to the maximum in the use of space and invitation. Casa Florianópolis assinada por Andressa Venturini “In this project, encounter is exactly what we seek. Everything in the house is connected to the point of creating beautiful encounters . The furniture, the spaces to receive family and friends, the intimate environments that also provide self-encounter,” says Andressa.

(Monica Assan/CASACOR)

Located in Guarujá (on the coast of São Paulo), this 525 m² house was designed from scratch by architects Ana Luisa Cairo and Gustavo Prado , from the A+G Arquitetura firm, and built on a 500 m² plot of land to be the summer home of a couple with a young child. "The clients are from Rio de Janeiro, living in São Paulo, and wanted a house with contemporary architecture , but that would reflect a beach environment . Since it is a beach house to be used on weekends, holidays and vacations, they asked for spacious, integrated and practical spaces", explains Ana Luisa.

The decor was based on a neutral base punctuated by natural elements – such as wood, fiber and leather – and earthy tones. The only important piece that was already part of the client’s collection and was used was the painting with Athos Bulcão tiles, which also guided the choice of colors for the house’s social area. In addition, the architects prioritized comfortable and practical furniture , most of which was made of wood to “warm up” the spaces, since the entire floor is made of large-format light gray porcelain.
