Casa Fortunata is one of the breathtaking projects designed by architect
Luciano Lerner Basso . Located in Caxias do Sul, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the house blends into the surrounding landscape and draws inspiration for its forms. . The
240 m² residence earned the architect several awards, consolidating Basso's name among the
leading names of the new generation of Brazilian architects .
"This project highlights the
essential activities of architecture : the careful reading of environmental conditions; the precise determination of construction processes; the correct resolution of the program of needs and the harmony of built forms" reveals the architect who, like the residence, also was born in Caxias do Sul. Built in a traditional neighborhood, the house was built around a huge
Araucaria tree , taking advantage of it for the architectural design and ensuring, in this way, that the house was like a
natural extension of the landscape .
The weight, density, color and texture of both spaces are equivalent and reinforce the unity of the work.
Casa Fortunata earned the architect a series of awards and honors, including second place in the residential building category of the 8th edition of the
Saint Gobain Architecture Prize . Its sustainable architecture, which does not interfere with nature, and its extreme respect for nature; in addition, of course, to the aesthetic and functional precision of the residence, ensured that it was among the five best projects that competed for the
Design Studio Mag 2021 Awards . The house was also selected among the 20 projects nominated by the Brazilian Institute of Architects to represent the country in the 3rd edition of the
Oscar Niemeyer award . Check out more photos of Casa Fortunata, by Luciano Lerner Basso, in the gallery:
