A 75m² space - which connects two restaurants at
CASACOR São Paulo 2022 - served as a blank canvas for designer
Daiane Antinolfi to create three surprising environments: an art gallery, a unisex
bathroom and a lounge.
The professional opted for darker tones to further enhance the works of art on display so that visitors are able to appreciate the photographs as they walk around.
“After two years of having the house as a refuge, there is a great need to socialize and see what’s new in the world. With this in mind, we chose to create a dark, cozy atmosphere with an air of mystery,” reveals Daiane.
The composition featured dark-toned
wood panels , which brought that "air of mystery" that the designer wanted so much, present even in a part of the ceiling, and which serves as a background for the photographs that decorate the entire "gallery" .
“We brought in important photography artists, including Akira Cravo and Juan Esteves - we wanted to add value to the space, making this “passage” to the toilets enjoyable,” he explains.
Before entering the restrooms, visitors can enjoy a small lounge to wait comfortably. Some niches have also been created in the space with a small
curved sofa designed by the office itself.
"On the walls, we used a cement coating painted in
Coral Lichen Green, also present in the ceiling, to expand we installed shelves in gold with a Bronze Mirror background. "The decoration brings something conceptual with old books, and human sculptures, as a reference for if it is a circulation”.
Lighting is the cherry on the cake and is an element that does not go unnoticed. In the lounge, “giant bulb”-type
lamps come down from the ceiling in different sizes, bringing a bit of fun and serving as a surprise element.
In the circulation area, an LED profile was used embedded in the wooden ceiling and some spotlights were used to direct the lights towards the photographs. And throughout the gallery and lounge, a high 50 cm skirting board was used with inverted LED lighting the floor.
For the bathroom, the specialist did not leave out the details. “Inside each cabin we designed a portico that was covered in
wallpaper with a different background and indirect lighting.”
Finally, the benches were divided and have a different shape from the traditional one, as well as the golden armchair and poster of Queen Elizabeth. The idea is for the user to discover and appreciate the details little by little, enriching their experience.
