Manu+Ca Studio Manu Cardim + Catarina Gouvêa – Lavatory and Gallery. In addition to leaving the original architectural details of the house, such as the ceiling in the hall and the tiles in the bathroom, almost untouched, the design duo also opted for reinterpretations of old pieces, playing with styles and eras. This is the case of the mashrabiya used in the lavatory, which also features rose gold metals from Deca (instead of the classic gold) and also the oratory designed by Dado Castello Branco.

It was with the idea of “preserving and recovering” - the motto of CASACOR Rio 2021 - that the duo of architects Manu Cardim and Catarina Gouvêa, from Estúdio Manu+Ca , created the Lavatory and Gallery . Without interfering with the original architectural details of the Brando Barbosa Residence , such as the designed ceiling of the hall and the tiles, the bathroom was modernized with the launches of DECA .

“The bathroom was already very charming . We fell in love with it when we saw it and really wanted to do it. It’s a challenge to create a project for a space with such special characteristics , and it’s a great pleasure to know that everything will be preserved ,” highlights Manu.

The décor is modern , but with a special look at the past. The duo's focus was on reinterpreting old pieces, mixing styles and eras. This is the case of the mashrabiya used in the bathroom, which also features rose gold metalwork from DECA (instead of the classic gold).

The oratory , a piece created by architect Dado Castello Branco , is super contemporary and has a strong reference to the history of the house and its owners who kept there, for years, a very rich collection of sacred pieces, especially from the Brazilian Baroque .
