With plenty of nature and modernist charm, the bar pays homage to the landscape
[galeria-april id="92013" type="slider" showtitle="false" data-restrict="false"] For those who had the opportunity to visit the 25th edition of CASACOR Minas , they can confirm that the Minas Gerais show stood out among the more than 19 events held by the brand in 2019. In addition to the beauty of the chosen setting, the event took place at Palácio das Mangabeiras, the official residence of the state governors , inaugurated in 1955. The cast presented 60 environments designed to respect nature and the original architecture of Oscar Niemeyer and gardens by Roberto Burle Marx . The proposal to occupy a historic property and contribute to increasing the visibility of Brazilian historical and architectural heritage is not new to the Minas Gerais show, but in this edition the realization of the set reached its peak and moved visitors. With a record attendance (there were more than 70 thousand people), the event will be missed. And one of the spaces that deserves distinction, both for the relevance of choosing a light and sustainable structure and for the quality of its implementation in dialogue with the landscape, was the Pool Bar , designed by architect Lucas Lage . The pool, originally designed by master Burle Marx, gained a metal-structured bar with outdoor lounges and unpretentious furniture, which was spread out in a casual manner around the pool. "Our project was concerned with minimally interfering with the entire surrounding area, Niemeyer's project, Burle Marx's landscaping, the listed landscape of the Serra do Curral and the city skyline. The premise was that during the day the structure would appear light, almost ephemeral, combining the poetry of the curves of the pool design with the light steel roof, which simply rested on the grass", says the architect from Minas Gerais. And, as expected, respect for the surrounding nature became a necessity, the professional continues "our bar was totally sustainable, we did not interfere with the land or any pre-existing vegetation, we used materials that could be dismantled and relocated elsewhere later".
"We remove as much excess information and dysfunctions from projects as possible. We like to work with materials in their entire essence, which is why our projects always have materials in their raw form, without distractions or mannerisms," says Lage. And to leave no doubt about the reverence for the masters and respect for the natural and architectural heritage, we asked the architect: What was it like creating a new building in dialogue with the house designed by Oscar Niemeyer? "It was thinking about nothing, thinking that no matter what I did it would have to be almost a non-environment, something that wouldn't harm the building but would be striking."[newsletter]
