Casa Senses is a proposal for a country hotel retreat built at CASACOR Rio 2023 by architects Cadé Marino, Michelle Wilkinson and Thiago Morsch , from the firm UP3 Architecture .

The house was assembled from three reused containers and a metal structure that allowed the built area to be expanded, in a box format, to 105 m².

The main inspiration for the project came from contemporary country houses , with solutions that promote maximum integration of the internal environments with the surrounding nature.
“We named this refuge 'senses' because our intention here is to awaken different sensations in visitors through natural materials, textures, lighting, ventilation and vegetation that, combined with organic and rounded shapes, instinctively connect us to the environment ,” explains Cadé.

The concept of integration was also explored internally through fluid spaces that communicate with each other, subtly divided to avoid abrupt visual barriers.

“Casa Senses also focuses on silent luxury by incorporating natural elements into the interior architecture, such as wood, stone, cotton, linen, leather and plants, to achieve a discreet, timeless and, at the same time, elegant decoration”, highlights Michelle.

Following this line of reasoning, the entire floor of the house was covered with wooden planks , the walls and porticos with travertine marble slabs and the aluminum frames of the main façade (which function as pivoting brise-soleils) received a special paint job with a wood appearance and a straw weave closure, instead of traditional glass.

Another highlight of the project is the gap in the ceiling through which a large tree that exists on the land passes, which was incorporated into the interior space and surrounded by Adam's ribs , fulfilling both the function of a winter garden and a divider between the social and private areas of the home.
