A
cabin made from recycled discarded shipping containers has been supported by technology and is gaining notoriety for combining comfort, style and respect for nature. Named
"Container Gaia" , it has 12 m² and a philosophy based on sustainability. The project was an initiative of
Pinup Houses that aimed to create a
self-sustainable building - and the good news is that this was possible!
The small
container house is very similar to a
Tiny House , precisely because its spaces are reduced, but fully functional. To achieve this, the professionals in charge of the project had to get their hands dirty and invest heavily in
carpentry as an ally.
>> Tiny House: what is it? Learn about the movement and beautiful projects! In addition to the solar panel, the
cabin has a wind turbine , which ensures the batteries work, so that they can be charged at any time of the day and in all seasons. The batteries, in turn, have their charge level monitored via a
mobile app , making it easy
to check battery consumption and charging while you're away.
Access to filtered water is not a concern, but rationed use is recommended to avoid waste. This is because Gaia was equipped to
reuse rainwater , which is filtered and
distributed to the bathroom and kitchen .
Inside the cabin, you can immediately see some aspects that were of utmost importance: investing in
multifunctional furniture was one of the main ones. A
sofa that turns into a bed, walls that serve as a closet or even a dining table that folds out. are some examples of how carpentry was present to bring practicality to the project. Source: designboom
