The Starbucks chain is increasingly investing in sustainable solutions for the waste generated by its stores. One of these initiatives is to transform all of the plastic waste discarded by the establishment, such as cutlery, cups, packaging and plastic bottles, into furniture for the stores themselves.

The Bean Chair was already a design by the firm, which was re-created using Starbucks waste. Pentatonic recreated the chair using only upcycled fabrics, made from leftover plastic from the coffee chain. The upholstery, cushioning, frame and legs are made of plastic bottles and cups. For now, furniture generated from waste is only found in branches in England, but the idea is that it will spread throughout the world and raise awareness about the consumption and post-consumption of plastic.
