On Monday, October 10, the women participating in the
Coral Mulheres na Cor program had their graduation ceremony at MASP, the São Paulo Museum of Art. This, the
first group of professional painters qualified by the initiative , was honored by family members and partner companies who attended the diploma ceremony. Created by
AkzoNobel , which brings together corporations with the goal of transforming women's stories through professionalization, the project provided graduates from Jardim Colombo, in Paraisópolis, with an exclusive guided tour with
Glaucea Britto , assistant curator at MASP. Soon after, the program took them to dressing rooms where they could prepare themselves with makeup, hair and gown for the graduation ceremony.
About the Women in Color Choir program
The program started its first class in June , bringing knowledge and training to women in vulnerable situations in a segment where they are still underrepresented, but where they can find many opportunities. “By accumulating functions as head of the family and the day at home, Many women face obstacles to employment. It was from this need for
inclusion and
female empowerment in the job market and, especially, in communities, that the Women in Color Choir emerged, a social program that meets our values and those of our partners.” , says
Daniel Geiger Campos , president of AkzoNobel for Latin America. Women over 18 years of age, with a minimum education of the 4th year of Elementary School, unemployed or with an income of up to one minimum wage and heads of households with dependents of school age, the 14 graduates of the program trained for ten weeks attending the complete course on painting, which totaled
more than 200 hours . The project also included lectures, mentoring and specializations promoted by partner companies, as well as a visit to the São Paulo edition of
CASACOR 2022. Two experienced professional painters,
Ana Machado and
Leandro Piovesan , provided support throughout the learning journey, becoming true ambassadors for the class. During the course, participants received a stipend, transportation, food, uniform and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) paid for by the supporting companies. In addition, all graduates will receive a
kit of manual and electrical tools , which is especially important for those who decide to follow an independent journey, with support to create their profiles and join the so-called
Colored Pages , a digital platform that connects consumers who are on the painting journey with quality and trustworthy professionals recommended by
Coral . These women will also have the opportunity, together with the partners of employability, of a possible relocation in the market, in construction, renovation or painting companies.
