Since 2012, COS has been working with renowned designers to present a new take on architectural and art installations, and each year the brand has surprised visitors to Milan Design Week . "It has not been our intention, in “We are not creating an ever-growing presence. We simply continue to invest in who we truly believe in and are passionate about at the moment,” said COS Creative Director Karin Gustafsson. COS has worked with internationally renowned artists such as Nendo, Sou Fujimoto and Snarkitecture. This year, the chosen artist was American artist Phillip K Smith III, known for his reflective mirror sculptures that interact with and complement the space in which they are placed.

For Design Week , the partnership between the brand and the artist resulted in an installation that uses Phillip's signature approach at Palazzo Isimbardi, highlighting and enhancing the site's Renaissance architectural beauty. Named Open Sky , the sculpture located in the courtyard at The open sky of the palace is made up of mirrors at an angle of 43 degrees that bring the sky into the building in the reflected and fractured mirrors.

Smith's idea was to bring visitors a moment of tranquility and contemplation amidst the hustle and bustle of Milan . "I thought about the contrast of leaving the street and the insanity of the Salone, for the visitor to enter the space and be forced to be a little quiet. , slowly and maybe sit and spend time looking at the sky. We all, as human beings, recognize that when we do this, we feel better and it gives us a breath of fresh air to remember what is important," says the artist.
