When visiting the fair, we noticed some trends and two of them, which can be found together, are the rise of the vase in decoration and the application of prints inspired by Portuguese tiles.

Speaking primarily about our Portuguese colonizers, the art of tiles emerged, at first, under the influence of the Arabs who took their techniques to Portugal around 1500. Then, in 1560, pottery workshops began to appear in Lisbon , which produced tiles. using the faience technique, imported from Italy. The tiles were then characterized by being white and blue, with unusual and historical scenes, which surprise with the artisan's originality. The technique, which is now reinvented by several designers and companies, not only prints tiles but has also migrated to decorative pieces such as vases, cushions, trunks, cachepots, urns and other decorative objects. ABUP SHOW was full of them throughout the stands and this is due to the fact that they are serene colors, which bring tranquility and charm to the environments where they are included. This year, CASACOR São Paulo 2017 had a functional environment, the Boulangerie , by Alessandra K, which was completely inspired by Portuguese tiles. The professional used a rug on the central table and on the entrance wall made of hydraulic tiles, with a handcrafted floral print. Furthermore, the entire space was marked by shades of blue and white, characteristic of Portuguese art.
