An 80 m² apartment located in Pinheiros, one of the most exclusive areas of São Paulo, is almost a rarity these days, amidst so many options for micro-apartments spread throughout the metropolis. Therefore, thinking about enhancing each room and further expanding the available space, the residents hired the office duo André Ávila and Luis Canepa .

The original layout of the apartment was divided into several small rooms, and the lack of fluidity made it difficult to ventilate the spaces. The architects adopted an open plan and removed 90% of the walls. Instead, they added windows to provide more light to the spaces.

To make the space even more fluid, the architects decided to take advantage of the high ceiling to create niches and suspended shelves to store books and kitchen items – which guaranteed an even more casual style for the apartment.

The architects' proposal was to make the residents comfortable; and so they also came up with some ideas to make life easier – including for pets. "In the service area, we created a beautiful metalwork door to bring in natural light from the windows, and also connect it to the kitchen using the same material. This door, in addition to the glass, has a special opening so that the house cats can pass through it without having to be open," the architects explain.

The colorful atmosphere of the décor brings life and joy to the residence, and the contrasts between natural and cozy elements and exposed concrete give the space a contemporary feel.

In the baby's room , the structure of the building is the element that defined the layout . In addition to delimiting the space, there is also an emphasis on exposed concrete. "We played with colors to create a lighter and more relaxed environment," they explain.
