Modern Art Week: exhibitions throughout the year revive the event

Museum of Modern Art confirms two exhibitions in honor of the centenary of the modernist landmark that took place at the Municipal Theater

One of the most influential artistic events in our history and considered a milestone of Modernism in Brazil , Modern Art Week , is close to completing one hundred years. The event that brought together different artists at the Municipal Theater in 1922 will be honored in 2021.

To celebrate the centenary, the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) has already announced two important exhibitions to pay homage to and revive the 1922 event:

For the second half of the year, in August, MAM is planning a major exhibition that will bring a vision of Modern Art Week beyond São Paulo. Names such as Di Cavalcanti (1897 - 1976), Anita Malfatti (1889-1964) and Eliseu Visconti (1866-1944) and many others can be expected. The curator is art critic and professor Aracy Amaral .

Leaving MAM, ITO will also pay its own tribute to Modern Art Week by hosting an exhibition named after one of the most renowned and famous artists of the centenary. The exhibition Di Cavalcanti: Muralista will open to the public in March and will be curated by Ivo Mesquita .
