NY hosts Tarsila do Amaral's exhibition for the first time at MoMa

New York is hosting for the first time a collection of 130 pieces by the exponent of modernism in Brazil, Tarsila do Amaral. The exhibition Tarsila do Amaral: Inventing Modern Art in Brazil will be on display at the Museum of Modern Art from February 11 to November 3. June and will include drawings, paintings, photographs and other documents.

Among the paintings that will be at MoMa are Abaporu, a gift from Tarsila to her then husband, the writer Oswald de Andrade, A Negra and Operários, the iconic image that summarizes the moment of immigration and industrialization that Brazil was experiencing in the 1930s.
