On display at the Instituto
Artium de Cultura in São Paulo, the solo exhibition
Lampejar by Rio de Janeiro-born
José Bechara offers a snapshot of the artist's recent work, spanning over 30 years. With support from
Galeria Marília Razuk , the show includes works from the series
Dancing in my room , in which Bechara created works in small formats, on surfaces that explore loud, solid colors and that overflow beyond the metric to which they are limited.
The exhibition also features three-dimensional pieces from the
Graphic Sculptures series: Allen Allen large, made of aluminum and fluorescent paint, and
Super Oxy , made of SAC steel. These sculptures are made up of geometric elements of different masses and sizes, ordered by gravity, and which propose a reflection on the void in that, by combining solid and empty elements, they suggest “drawing” in real space.
In a more luminous chromatic research, the artist constructs geometric spaces that oscillate between formal rigor and random occurrences. Delving deeper into his oxidation technique, the artist reveals new tones and patterns, creating spaces created from fields with fragile borders, sets of hesitant lines that strive to emerge on the plane.
