Marcelo Salum, a professional who is up to date with housing trends, presents at
CASACOR Santa Catarina 2018 , the
Kidron Room , an environment inspired by the nomadic style of a fictional character, a doctor and therapist, who through his experience around the world, creates a unique and personal atmosphere through decoration and the choice of art objects for the space.
For this deep and rich work, Salum had the help of curator Helena Fretta to select the works. "It was a mix between nomadic architecture and the character created, a therapist doctor, who guided the composition of the environment, the selection of materials, of the artists involved and their works on display. Revealing there, as a visiting environment, which character occupies this room", says the architect.
The starting point for this entire nomadic universe is the
Mapa Mundi, by the Minas Gerais artist Juliano Aguiar, designed especially for the environment. "The interesting thing is that the visitor perceives himself as part of the world, breaking down this local border, even more so today. nowadays diluted with the digital dimension. We can have access to any place in the world, this opens up new perceptions, even if it is not a trip to the physical territory, the media allows us this escape", he explains.
Starting from the work above, the visitor comes across the work of Renato Dib, fabric sculptures displayed in a special corner of the room, and not by chance. Marcelo makes a connection with the behavior of nomads in the desert, who hunt prey to feed themselves and They use the entire animal – from meat to skin – without waste.
On the other wood-paneled wall, there is a painting by Walmor Corrêa, which complements the speech and characterization of the character, the therapist doctor. "Walmor works with hybridism in this work, a creature that is half goat and half ostrich. For me, it brings the question of the human being itself, which transforms, molds itself in response to an entire society. And it also reveals the strength we have to have to maintain who we are in essence. For me, it touches on this point", he explains.
The hearts by ceramist Sara Ramos were a symbolic choice and reinforce the usefulness of the space. "The heart is known for keeping secrets, here they relate to the history of therapy." Just like the heart sculptures by artist Fernando Bertolini supported by bases in cedar (kidron in Arabic), the name of the wood that adorns the Lebanese flag. And also the Kufic Arabic calligraphy in Lilian Mansur's paintings.
