Após realizar a compensação das emissões de CO2 geradas na mostra e no Anuário, evento trabalha para engajar profissionais do elenco e visitantes
The construction and operation sector of buildings accounts for about 40% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions worldwide. Extracted from nature and processed in the industry, construction and decoration materials also produce environmental impacts during transportation to stores and application in a project. Additionally, the trail left along the way must be considered: waste generation, soil degradation, air pollution, and water and energy consumption. To offset this environmental footprint, tools exist that neutralize this chain.
CASACOR São Paulo carried out its first GHG emission offset in 2019 through the purchase of carbon credits. Starting in 2021, the event established a partnership with Carbon Free Brasil to neutralize carbon not only for the show but also for the Yearbook, which became a carbon-neutral publication.
The offsetting occurs through the calculation of CO2 emissions, which are converted into trees to be planted by Carbon Free Brasil in Atlantic Forest areas of São Paulo state. The native forest contributes to ecosystem services such as water and air conservation. Biologists and environmental engineers monitor the planting process and ensure the growth of the plants – and consequently, the carbon sequestration.

The Carbon Free Seal certifies that CASACOR São Paulo is a carbon-neutral company, in compliance with international standards ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, and IPCC. It clearly communicates to the market and consumers that the CASACOR brand actively participates in building a more sustainable world.
In 2023, the show offset 326 tons of carbon, corresponding to the shows and yearbooks of 2021 and 2022, through the planting of 327 trees , with four years of monitoring by Carbon Free. In total, these actions represent 6,520 m² of restored native forest.
In 2024, CASACOR São Paulo sought a way to encourage participating professionals to take responsibility for carbon offsetting in their projects. To this end, it partnered with Pachamama Trading, a company specializing in biodiversity credits, which consider, in addition to CO2 emissions, 26 other ecosystem services such as biodiversity maintenance, climate regulation, oxygen production, educational values, pollination, and others.
In total, 13 spaces designed by participating professionals carried out the offsetting – more than the initially planned five. “I am very excited by the fact that CASACOR São Paulo puts professionals in the role of protagonists in decarbonization and the development of a greener economy,” says João Marcello Gomes Pinto, one of Pachamama’s partners. In addition to carbon offsetting for the show’s spaces, in 2024 visitors could also offset the carbon footprint generated by their travel to the event by voluntarily paying an extra R$ 5 when purchasing their ticket. “We have reached a point in our sustainable initiatives where, to advance, we need to engage more of the participating professionals and also the visitors. Only then will we truly expand our positive impacts,” concludes Darlan Firmato.
