It's hard to imagine that just a few minutes from São Paulo, there exists a carefully curated retreat for well-being, self-care, and leisure designed to slow down time and comfort the soul. But it is in
São Roque that Villa Tanah hides – a
sustainable hotel immersed in native forest where nature governs the rhythm of the days. An
unpretentious luxury oasis, perfect for weekend getaways, meditative retreats, or meaningful celebrations — such as weddings or anniversaries aimed at immersing oneself in the greenery.
Staying in one of the six chalets or in one of the suites of the main house at Villa Tanah is to immerse oneself in an experience where
comfort and care are present in every detail. The structure focused on well-being includes a sauna, gym, massages, natural pools, heated pool, and even a sand court. But what really surprises is outside: two
trails that leave the hotel and lead to hidden waterfalls and a walk among the trees are the perfect way to start mornings in deep connection with nature.
Two large lakes guide the built area, with an architectural design signed by
Rosana Buonerba. The blocks are like a true
extension of the external landscape, with natural stones on the walls, wide glass closures, and bamboo as a constructive element. In an area of
10 acres of native forest, there was no doubt about the alignment with
biophilic architecture — that which is deeply connected to nature.
In the interior design project, conceived by
Marcelo Salum – an architect known for his work in
CASACOR at the editions in São Paulo and Santa Catarina –, inspiration came from the East, importing from the philosophy
wabi-sabi an appreciation for imperfect spaces, the desire for more warmth, and the perception that meaning resides in the old – in addition to
a familiar feeling of being at home. On hot days, meals are served under the shade of a
large jabuticaba tree. In the background, the sound of a stream fills the silence, while butterflies and hummingbirds hover among the trees.
The restaurant is a separate experience: the
farm to table cuisine enriches the palate and makes you want to repeat the experience even before dessert arrives. With a carefully crafted menu where all ingredients are welcome, a burst of harmonious flavors is guaranteed, accompanied by the kindness and warmth of the entire staff.
Villa Tanah also arises with a
sustainable purpose, supported by a robust investment in
clean and renewable energy sources, such as
solar panels, which meet the energy demand for the hotel's operation and ensure its self-management. Furthermore, guests are also encouraged to
conscious consumption of water resources, which are supplied by a mineral water spring and a well.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that Villa Tanah embodies the
new luxury — more conscious, essential, and deeply human. A luxury that understands that sophistication is the ability to pause, take a deep breath, care for oneself attentively, and cultivate connections that resonate from within. A place for those seeking not only rest but also to reconnect with themselves with kindness and genuineness.
