Tokyo Olympic Village will have beds made from recyclable paper
Created by the company Airweave, the beds and mattresses will be recycled into other products after the Olympic Games

Recycled beds will be used in dormitories at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics . Athletes will sleep on beds made from recycled cardboard and customizable mattresses, both created by Japanese bedding company Airweave .

The company announced that it has 18,000 sets of beds ready for use by athletes, of which 8,000 will be reused for use during the Paralympic Games.

In line with the brand's commitment to sustainability and the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games sustainability plan, the modular mattresses are made from polyethylene fibers , which can be recycled.
Lightweight beds will allow users to easily rearrange the layout of the room as they please. For extremely tall athletes, 8-inch extensions can be attached to the 85-by-35-inch bed frames.
