Sustainability is more than an architectural trend present at CASACOR Brasília 2023 , it is a policy of the show, which is why the concept is found in its main environments.

Modular architecture is one of this year's sustainable elements. The proposal appears in the project by architects Carla Monza and Isabella Souza , from Orla Arquitetura, in Bangalô Veraneio . The 75m² space was built using prefabricated modules , which make assembly faster, less polluting and have a longer useful life , as there is no need for demolition.

“This construction method minimizes waste generation and optimizes the use of resources, significantly reducing the environmental impact compared to traditional construction techniques,” they explain.

Modular structures were also used in the creation of the Handmade Space - Sebrae, by the trio Plínio Barros, Sophia Rabelo and Tharla Stambassi, from Babel Arquitetura .

“As it is a space made up of modular elements , they can be reused and assembled in other locations, avoiding much of the waste, which is always so problematic,” they explain. In addition, the craft store environment also included the reuse of the ceiling structure and the existing lighting fixtures in the stadium.

Recyclable and sustainable items

Used on a daily basis, PET bottles gain another function in the environments of CASACOR Brasília 2023. In the Toy Library - Imagine Being, by Cali Arquitetura (Carolina Nogueira and Olívia Campos), they were used to build the space's acoustic baffles , which reduce echoes and increase the clarity of speech in the environment.

“They were produced from 100% recycled PET bottles , with each square meter removing 30 to 50 bottles from circulation . In addition, they do not require the use of steel cables or perforations in the lining,” the duo reveals.

Flávia Nasr 's space, called Lounge Soul Brasília, uses the same technique in the acoustic coating that covers the walls of the podcast room.
In the Descompressão space, by Renata Ciccarini , PET bottles make up the panel that marks the entrance to the space. “They are sustainable and 100% recyclable. No water is used in the production process, complying with reverse logistics,” says the architect.

The vinyl ceiling was the choice of sustainable material by the professionals at Studio Arch+ at Casa Raízes. “It is a 100% recyclable product that does not require the use of chemical products for its maintenance and conservation. In other words, the production process is 100% ecological. Furthermore, the material used already has its final destination after the end of the exhibition”, say Renata Vieira, Laísa Figueiredo and Juliana Velloso.

In the Larissa Dias Arquitetura office environment, called Casa Casqueiro, items that would traditionally be discarded in civil construction – the marble stone casqueiros – are used as coverings on walls and countertops.
Cybele Barbosa - House Brasilia. CASACOR Brasilia 2023 Project.

At Casa Brasília , by designer Cybele Barbosa , materials such as PVC and vinyl base are used as sustainable proposals. Both are recyclable and do not use water in their installation.
Three Architecture (Luciano Macedo and Vinicius Resende) - Epicenter. CASACOR Brasília 2023 Project.

The Epicentro space project, by Três Arquitetura, uses reforested wood from efficient forest management in the MDF shelving. In addition, architects Luciano Pena and Vinicius Resende used vinyl on the floor and black storm granite, extracted in Brazil, in the space. “The concern for sustainability was not limited to the choice of materials; the environment did not undergo any drastic changes from the original space, which minimizes the generation of debris. Dismantling was also taken into consideration: all materials will be reused or resold ,” they explain.
