Designed to emphasize the sense of unity, the
Expo Osaka inaugurates the
largest wooden architectural structure in the world, entitled "
Grand Ring". The construction is inspired by an ancient Japanese temple and structured by enormous trusses with an area of over 61,000 m².
Signed by architect Sou Fujimoto, the structure symbolizes the unity among the nations participating in the event. It occupies a central position in the Expo's master plan, in addition to serving as the main circulation route of the space. With an investment of US$ 230 million, the “Grand Ring, which defines it as the largest wooden construction in the world.
