In Brazil, 90% of all wood production is destined for the
domestic market , especially the construction and
decoration sector. Therefore, professionals who work in this sector, such as
architects and
interior and
product designers, are fundamental in promoting
sustainability of the production chain and the importance of forests in the current climate change scenario.
According to recent surveys carried out by
Imazon , in Pará, and by the Instituto Centro de Vida (ICV), in Mato Grosso (the largest states producing native wood in Brazil), around 40% of the wood is
extracted illegally – a volume that is still very challenging. .
Thinking about how the choices made by construction,
architecture and
design professionals in their projects can help protect forests, the Institute of Forest and Agricultural Management and Certification
(Imaflora) is holding the meeting
“Architecture of Tomorrow 2: Building Sustainable Businesses” on October 7, from 4 pm to 6 pm, on the entity's YouTube channel, with the participation of several special guests and supporters.
